Stories of Singapore's many islands!
Listen to the podcast - Tales from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, exploring Singapore’s famous myths and legends: https://tinyurl.com/lkcnhmtales1
From the Museum Facebook Page: Explore some of Singapore’s island names inspired by local wildlife. Many of our offshore islands have a rich cultural heritage, and their names also often hold meaningful stories. What has deer got to do with St John’s Island and Lazarus Island? And have you ever heard of the swimming race that resulted in the formation of Pulau Ubin and Pulau Sekudu?
Island names offer us a different way of looking at Singapore’s past wildlife and help us understand how people made sense of the places they lived.
