Raffles Lighthouse tour twice a month

Join this tour by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore which brings participants on a ferry, starting from Marina South Pier, passing by southern islands such as St John’s Island, Kusu Island, Pulau Bukom, Pulau Sebarok and Pulau Semakau before disembarking at Pulau Satumu to visit the Raffles Lighthouse.

Mass coral spawning 2021

Singapore's corals are alive and very sexy too. Their annual orgy of explosive sex just happened! Thanks to the dedicated team who have been keeping an eye on this event every year, and Vincent Choo and Toh Chay Hoon, we get a glimpse of what happened. 

Last year, coral spawning period was in the middle of COVID lockdown, so we didn't get a glimpse of what happened. Thus it's a relief to know that they Did It again this year.

Singapore's corals unlikely to be impacted by rising seas

NUS marine scientists found that coral species in Singapore's sedimented and turbid waters are unlikely to be impacted by accelerating sea-level rise.

The researchers found that species present in deeper areas are able to tolerate a wider range of conditions, and are unlikely to be threatened by a rise in sea level, provided that other stress factors such as sedimentation do not increase.
