Every year, millions of migratory shorebirds make an extraordinary journey from their breeding grounds in the Arctic to this part of the world. The journey is a difficult one, and many of them fall prey to hunters, predators and storms. For the shorebirds that arrive at Sungei Buloh, the reserve is a constant sanctuary in a coastline that is changing everywhere.

Join us in celebrating and welcoming the return of these marvels of endurance back home to Sungei Buloh with Welcome Waders!

Founded by educators equipped with degrees in Life Science and Marine Biology, Young Nautilus is an education enrichment partner for schools and families that provide fun and engaging science learning journeys. By fostering a deeper understanding of the world and the dynamic changes that shape it, we enrich what are taught in the MOE syllabus.

18 Jun (Sun): FREE walk at Chek Jawa

Once a year, and only once a year, during Pesta Ubin, volunteers from several groups come together to offer a Chek Jawa Open House. Volunteers will be stationed all over the boardwalk. There will be activities for kids.

This activity is offered by the Chek Jawa community, led by the Naked Hermit Crabs with friends of Chek Jawa like NParks Chek Jawa volunteers and TeamSeaGrass. (There will be NO activities on the seashores or intertidal areas).

Date: 18 Jun 2023 (Sun)
Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Venue: Chek Jawa Wetlands
No registration required, simply just turn up at Chek Jawa. This activity is free-of-charge.

25 Feb (Sat): Pasir Ris FREE family walk by the Naked Hermit Crabs

The Naked Hermit Crabs are back! Come for their FREE guided walk for families at Pasir Ris Park. Registration now open. Slots fill up fast.

You can visit Pasir Ris mangroves on your own, at any time. It is open 24/7. Here's more about visiting the boardwalk at any tide and visiting the intertidal shore at low tide.

12 Feb (Sat): The Mangrove Art Story at Chek Jawa with Better Trails

Explore Chek Jawa with Better Trails. A hidden gem, it is located at the eastern end of Pulau Ubin that is home to an abundance of biodiversity. Tread through the coastal mangrove habitat with family and friends on a curated nature trail passing by the mangrove boardwalk and Jejawi Tower.

By the end of the trail, you will get to participate in an air clay sculpting workshop, crafting your memories of the trail into painted clay sculptures! Join us now on this exciting learning journey at Pulau Ubin!

As he paddled into the mangroves on his kayak, he discovered a lot more than he was expecting… Say Chong found true love… love for kayaking, love for the mangroves and even the love of his life… this is his story...

Join this special sharing session by Say Chong, together with the Marine Conservation Group (MCG) of NSS as he takes you on a journey through the various pristine coastal mangrove areas around Singapore on his Kayak – as seen through his eyes.

Participants will learn about the Giant Fig, snails, rubik cubes, lobsters, and why there are plenty of babies in the mangrove. Be inspired by the "beauty and brains" of this riverine system.
